چکیده

Purpose: Recent findings have implicated the role of myocardin re-expression in carcinogenesisHowever, clinical functions nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is not known yet. The purpose for cohort research was to investigate whether level may predict prognosis NPC patients. Methods: 148 patients were recruited from September, 2005 2011 with median follow-up time 4.5 years a practice setting. At study entry these determined using immunohistochemistry (IHC) and additional 20 normal tissues included as control. Two-sample t-test used compare mean reexpression levels Chi-square test comparing tumour recurrence rate. Logistic regression analysis local control rate, log-rank test, Kaplan-Meier estimates Cox proportional hazard model disease-free survival overall survival. Results: Myocardin IHC index significantly downregulated samples than normalnasopharyngeal (mean ± standard deviation, 61.2 ±31.5 vs. 109.9 ±73.6, P= 0.009). However, among observed roughly V-shaped change according Tumour T-stage (P=0.067); meanwhile higher associated more rate (High Low: 21.6% 8.1%; P=0.021). equally showed high an independent risk factor regardless adjustments [High unadjusted Odds Ratio (OR) 0.320, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.117 0.871; P=0.026]. Moreover, marginal but significant increase adjusted Hazard (HR) 1.760, CI: 0.981 3.158; log-rank: P=0.129]. A less obvious trend regard [adjusted HR 1.409, 0.715 2.77; P=0.745].Conclusion: results suggested that could be potential clinically prognostic intermediate biomarker routine practice. Large well-designed studies involving over needed.

Aberrant expression of Mas and iNOS in nasopharyngeal carcinoma and the clinical significance: an immunohistochemistry study

As an upstream activator for inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), Mas has been reported to be upregulated in several cancers. However, its role in human nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is still unclear. In this study, we performed the immunohistochemistry to detect the expression of Mas and iNOS in 115 cases of NPC and 30 cases of normal nasopharyngeal tissues, and investigated the relationsh...

Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Clinical Study

Background and Objectives: Squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue (SCCOT) is the most common malignant neoplasm in oral cavity. At the time of the diagnosis of SCCOT regional metastases with a high mortality rate are common, which is due to the extensive lymphatic system drainage of the tongue. Although the level of healthcare has significantly improved, the survival rate is still low with an...

Potential factors associated with clinical stage of nasopharyngeal carcinoma at diagnosis: a case–control study

BACKGROUND In China, most patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) are diagnosed at a late stage and consequently have a poor prognosis. This study aimed to investigate potential factors associated with the clinical stage of NPC at diagnosis. METHODS Data were obtained from 118 patients with early-stage NPC and 274 with late-stage NPC who were treated at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Cent...

Clinical presentation of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

The poor prognosis for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma is principally due to its advanced stage at the time of diagnosis. The symptoms and clinical findings at presentation of 56 patients with confirmed nasopharyngeal carcinoma is described and analysed. Recognising the common modes of presentation is essential to diagnose the disease at an early stage.

Plasma Fibrinogen Correlates with Metastasis and is Associated with Prognosis in Human Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Background: The purpose of this observational study was to evaluate the prognostic significance of the pre-treatment plasma fibrinogen level for survival outcomes in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods: A total of 998 patients with NPC treated at a single centre in China were retrospectively enrolled, of whom 182 (18.2%) developed distant metastasis during follow-up. Survival analyses were ...
